Aston Villa is one of the oldest clubs in England and they have the rich tradition of having formed both the football league and the Premier league in 1888 and 1992 respectively. The club was founded in 1874 and have been playing at Villa Park Stadium for more than 100 years. Even though the club has not won any significant trophy in the past few years, they are one of the first clubs to win the European cup and the league title in England. They have also won 7 FA cups in addition to that.
Aston Villa have fierce rivalries with Birmingham city, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. The 2010-2011 seasons is probably the first season, in which all four clubs have taken part in the Premier league at once. However, Aston Villa remains one of the most successful clubs amongst them.
